Nuclear Atlas, 2020
70 woodcuts, assembled as a curtain
300x175 cm, Gouache, water color and ink on washi
installation at NEPA, Okayama, Japan
The Nuclear Atlas has been in existence since 2015. A geographic location of over 70 years of atomic horror. Worldwide repetition, in a grid of latitude and longitude. The history of the civil and military use of atomic energy is a global narrative; the disasters and near-disasters seem to be spread across the globe without gaps. Their social effects are in an absurd competition with economic and political interests.
n 2020 a special edition has been created that can travel all over the world as an atomic privacy screen. The curtain can travel all over the world as light as a feather and obscure the view outside (or inside). It is currently in an exhibition in the new NEPA Experimental Place of Art in Okayama (until March 28, 2021, together with works by Kobayashi and Tanji)
